There’s always some risk to wielding a hot metal flat or curling iron near your face, and sometimes you can actually singe your forehead in a rush to get out the door – ouch. “If you’re in a hurry, it’s so easy for your hand to slip,” explains Rose Velasco, resident hairstylist and colorist of Univers Phyto byKaizen in Rustan’s Makati.
Fast fix:
“skin that has been newly burnt should kept free of ant colorants like makeup.” Warns Dr. Mangubat. Instead, dab on a soothing aloe vera gel, pop an aspirin to reduce inflammation, and pull on a hat to hide the mark. Once it’s healed ( in about three to four days), apply petroleum jelly to minimize scabbing, then conceal the redness with an oil-free faoundation-to-powder makeup.
Next time:
“A good rule of thumb is not to swirl the iron closer that a half-inch from your scalp.”
