SMEARED MASCARA

Posted: March 24th, 2010 | Author: jhanok | Filed under: Beauty Tips | Tags: , , | No Comments »

You just finished a fabulous smoky eye job, and while doing the finishing touches on your mascara, you blink, and end up with black splotches.

Fast Fix:
Trying to wipe off mascara on your skin while it’s still wet will just make things worse. Instead of giving up and repeating the entire process, makeup artist Krist Bansuelo says, it’s best to just wait for the mascara to dry into hard debris so you can gently scratch it off.

Next time:
Dab some ultrafine loose powder right under your eyes right before you start placing color on your lids. The loose powder will serve as a barrier and catch any loose pigments and prevent mascara from staining your skin.

A SPOTTY SELF-TAN

Posted: March 18th, 2010 | Author: jhanok | Filed under: Beauty Tips | Tags: , | No Comments »

You bought that self-tanner hoping to get an instant and cancer-free tan, but unfortunately, you missed a few spots.
Fast Fix:
Dab any untanned areas with foundation, and top with deep bronzing powder to blend the color with the rest of your body (try The Body Shop’s Lustre Bronzer, Php 1,395 or Fanny Serrano Shimmer Bronze, Php 399). Then when taking a shower, use a sponge or loofah to gently rub areas like the knees, elbows, knuckles, and ankles to reduce splotchy markings, suggest Gela Laurel-Stehmier, Chief makeup artist for Lancome.
Alternately, you can apply a small amount of whitening toner like the White Beauty Pore Conditioning Toner of Pond’s, Php55 to tone down any overly-saturated areas.
Next time:
When shopping for a tanner, opt for one with built-in bronze tint instead of going for a clear formula. This will help you see if you leave any spots bare and gauge which areas need more or less product application. Try Lancome Flash Bronzer Transfer-Resistant Sefl-Tanner, Php 2595, or The Body Collections Sefl-Tanning Lotion, Php 875.

Wild eye shadow

You tried a vibrant eye shadow shade (electric green, anyone?), thinking you’d look cool and edgy. After leaving the house, you catch a glimpse in the mirror and realize the color is a bit too intense.

Fast Fix
Blot your lids with a makeup sponge or face powder to tone down the shadow, advises makeup artist Ara Fernando. Or, if you have an earth-toned eyeliner in your purse, draw a bold line across your lid and blend it in., the liner helps soften the color so there’s less contrast with your skin. Try Prestige Classic Kohl Kajal eye Pencil in Brown, Php 295.

Next time:
Swipe on pressed powder over your lids like Maybelline Clear Smooth Pressed Powder, Php 199, First- this prevents the shadow’s pigments from mixing with oils in your skin and intensifying.

A dramatic flutter draws attention, but sometimes, extra coats of mascara can look spider-like. Avoid that with this cool technique that will help you.

• Is your mascara dry? Always close the cap tightly to keep the formula fresh. Trash mascara you’ve been using for over six months.

• Do you ace the application? (1) Wiggle the wand under your finge at the base, and (2) pull through, (3) Then Place the wand on top of lashes, and twirl up to separate indidual hairs.

• Do you spot-check? Comb a spoolie (a clean mascara wand) through to fix any flakes.

STEP UP WITH LANEIGE 4-STEP SKIN CARE

Posted: February 15th, 2010 | Author: jhanok | Filed under: Beauty Tips | Tags: , | No Comments »

Turn your back from the usual cleanse, tone, and moisturizing beauty routine as LANEIGE offers not just three but four basic steps designed to bring out your skin’s radiance and health. Backed by more than 60 years of experience and market leadership in Korea, LANEIGE researchers advocate how each step in the regimen is crucial in its function to optimize the benefits of each skin care product.
Step 1: Refine
Start by gently removing dirt and dead skin cells to uncover clear translucent skin through the Power Essential Skin Refiner_EX. The refiner provides vital power and moisture energy to skin through its active ingredients, Bio-dusali.
Step 2: Balance
Not all skin has the same level of moisture. Too dehydrated or too oily skin inadequately absorbs nutrients. The Balancing Emulsion_EX corrents the moisture levels to prepare skin for the nest step. With the aid of Baobab tree extract and Shea Butter, skin is smoother and more hydrated.
Step 3: Treat
Now your skin is all set to receive the benefits of Water Bank Essence_EX. Enriched with blueberry and honey extracts and Himalaya Glacial Water minerals, it penetrates into the deeper layer of the skin to deliver optimum moisture. This watery essence promises moisturized skin up to 12 hours.
Step 4: Lock-in
Complete your new routine by finishing off with Water Bank Cream_EX. This cream locks in moisture and protects your skin from environmental hazards.
