Summer care of skin

Posted: April 26th, 2010 | Author: snowy_023 | Filed under: skin care | No Comments »

Having clear, hydrated and and glowing skin is a common goal among women like me. It really matters a bit whether you have a darker or whitish complexion but a glowing and healthy skin makes you charming and attractive. To have a healthy and glowing skin you must have certain things to do such as washing your hands and face with a mild soap, applying moisturizer after washing. You can also go for some home made masks whinch you can easily prepare with your kitchen ingredients.

And now it’s summer time i have some information on taking care of your skin. As i said above regular washing your face with a mild soap preparation. Avoid oil-based foundation as they are more prone to dirt and it make your skin oily. You should also avoid heavy make-up this summer. This summer drinking plenty of water and maintaining an easy diet by replacing spicy and oily foods with lots of fruits and salads will refresh you.

Before using blush or mascara you should prefer dusting of powder for absorbing oils in foundation. By applying powder before mascara your lashes will look thicker and they do not become prone to smudge.

Maximize sun protection with these foolproof tips.

  • The higher the SPF for your skin to burn. Choose an SPF of at least 30 to keep your skin from burning.
  • The skin on your face is very important to protect, but your ears, chest, shoulders, hands, and feet are equally important.
  • After rubbing sunscreen all over your face and body, gently wipe your hands on your hair. Not only will you give your locks some protection, you’ll get rid of the greasy film on your hands and in between your fingers.
  • After swimming, wipe your skin dry before re-applying your protection. That way you’re sure that your skin absorbs the SPF completely.
  • Afraid you’ll look  like a geisha on the beach? Look at yourself in a hand mirror as you apply your sunblock to ensure that the product disappears into your skin.
  • Women burn the skin on their back because they don’t apply enough protection. Get your pal to rub sunscreen all over your back, then when she’s done, do the same for her.

Your skin protects you from the elements. Therefore, in order for it to do its job properly, skin needs particular care.

  1. Nourish: nasty free radicals can wreak havoc on your complexion, aging it prematurely. reverse the process by moisturizing your skin with anti oxidant creams which nourish and revitalize skin.
  2. Protect: Sun block may seem cliche, but it is an absolute must when you expose yourself to the elements. The harsh effects of ultraviolet radiation can lead to wrinkling and even skin cancer.
  3. Stay Hydrated: Trust us, drinking lots of water will work wonders for your skin.
  4. Consult a doctor: It never hurts to pay a visit to your friendly neighborhood dermatologist for some professional advice on treating your skin right.

BIG FOREHEAD HICKEY

There’s always some risk to wielding a hot metal flat or curling iron near your face, and sometimes you can actually singe your forehead in a rush to get out the door – ouch. “If you’re in a hurry, it’s so easy for your hand to slip,” explains Rose Velasco, resident hairstylist and colorist of Univers Phyto byKaizen in Rustan’s Makati.

Fast fix:
“skin that has been newly burnt should kept free of ant colorants like makeup.” Warns Dr. Mangubat. Instead, dab on a soothing aloe vera gel, pop an aspirin to reduce inflammation, and pull on a hat to hide the mark. Once it’s healed ( in about three to four days), apply petroleum jelly to minimize scabbing, then conceal the redness with an oil-free faoundation-to-powder makeup.

Next time:
“A good rule of thumb is not to swirl the iron closer that a half-inch from your scalp.”

A ZIT YOU PICKED A FIGHT WITH

A fresh pimple appears on your face – grrr. Rather than letting it clear up on its own (that would be far too practical), you pick at it, which only leaves it bigger and angrier. “Trying to pop a pimple yourself sometimes causes scarring. When done unsuccessfully, this will only push the bacteria further down, resulting in a more inflamed pimple,” warns dermatologist Dr. Isabel Mangubat of Renergy.

Fast Fix:
“Try a cold compress to help ease the swelling,” suggest Dr. Mangubat. Once it’s shrunk, cover it with concealer. Try Shu Umeura Markcealer, Php 1,500, which has a fine point applicator so that you can apply coverage only where it’s needed. If your zit is still on the red, try mixing a mint-colored corrector with your concealer (try Palladio Concealer in Green, Php 425_ to help camouflage redness.

Next time:
Try to wait at least a day before messing with a zit. If you can’t resist, carefully pop it after washing your face with warm water or showering so your skin is flexible and pores are more open.

DO YOU EXPOLIATE WITH POTENT FACE SCRUB TOO OFTEN?

Expert say: “For those with oily skin, you can buff around four times a week” says Dr. Ferriols. “But if you have dry or sensitive skin, once or twice a week is enough.” Otherwise, you’ll deplete your dermis of healthy moisture and its texture will deteriorate quickly. (Like you’d partied for 12 hours straight.) “Also, you should always remember to moisturize after exfoliating,” she said.

Face saver: steer clear of face scrubs that contains fruit seeds and pits, which can be too harsh and tear sensitive skin, advises Leslie Bauman, MD, author of The Skin Type Solution. Instead, slough with a mild microbead scrub (try Doce Gentle Exfoliating Facial Foam, Php 80), and follow it wirh a good moisturizer. Look for the ones that contains olive oil or shea butter if you have a dry complexion, and go for a grease-free formulas with hyaluronic acid if you’re a bit oily, such as a Clinique Continuous Rescue Antioxidant Moisturizer, Php 2,700. and to increase your rosy glow – sans the help of products – hit the gym regularly to draw oxygen to your skin and enhance your natural radiance.
