SMEARED MASCARA

You just finished a fabulous smoky eye job, and while doing the finishing touches on your mascara, you blink, and end up with black splotches.

Fast Fix:
Trying to wipe off mascara on your skin while it’s still wet will just make things worse. Instead of giving up and repeating the entire process, makeup artist Krist Bansuelo says, it’s best to just wait for the mascara to dry into hard debris so you can gently scratch it off.

Next time:
Dab some ultrafine loose powder right under your eyes right before you start placing color on your lids. The loose powder will serve as a barrier and catch any loose pigments and prevent mascara from staining your skin.

A dramatic flutter draws attention, but sometimes, extra coats of mascara can look spider-like. Avoid that with this cool technique that will help you.

• Is your mascara dry? Always close the cap tightly to keep the formula fresh. Trash mascara you’ve been using for over six months.

• Do you ace the application? (1) Wiggle the wand under your finge at the base, and (2) pull through, (3) Then Place the wand on top of lashes, and twirl up to separate indidual hairs.

• Do you spot-check? Comb a spoolie (a clean mascara wand) through to fix any flakes.
